# Fantasy Book Clubs for Women

A fantasy book club for women is usually a room that wants fantasy with a female centre of gravity — romantasy, dark academia, women on dragons, morally grey love interests — not a men-only epic club with a ladies' night. ## What the search usually means

Not “no men”. Almost always: books with women as the engine, less patience for grimdark that treats women as scenery, more patience for romance, interiority and spice. Sometimes it means a private circle of friends who are women and want to say so. Both are legitimate. Only the second needs a closed door.

If you want epic fantasy without romance, say epic. If you want ACOTAR-shaped books, say romantasy. “For women” is a proxy for those tastes, and proxies make bad catalogues unless you unpack them.

## Rooms that already read that way

The Fae Court (romantasy) and the Nightborn (gothic and dark romance) are the House's closest match. The Dragon Riders will take anyone through a dragon war; they are not gendered, and women founded plenty of those circles.
