# Book Clubs for People in Their 20s

A book club for people in their twenties is usually an async, cheap, online room that reads what that age is actually reading — often BookTok, romantasy, dark romance — not a 7pm wine club that assumes you own a dining table. ## What actually keeps a twenty-something club alive

No commuting to a living room across town. No dues. Chat that works at 11pm. A book people have already heard of, or a short enough cycle that a bad internship month does not kill membership. Weekly page targets beat “finish by the first Thursday”.

Live Zooms at 6pm on a Wednesday will lose nurses, bartenders and anyone in another time zone. If you want a call, make it optional and rare. If you want a club, make the chat the meeting.

Public circles in the House, house halls, BookTok Discords, university alumni Discords, and the group chat you already have — which becomes a club the moment you give it a book and a code. Meetup still lists in-person groups in some cities; treat those as extra, not as the only adult option.
