# Book Club Scheduling Apps

A book club scheduling app is for finding a time a live call can exist: When2meet, LettuceMeet, Calendly, Discord events, a Google Calendar. House of a Reader does not have a calendar — on purpose. The default club here talks as people read, in a chat that never closes, so a meeting is optional. If your club is actually a Zoom, use a scheduler and keep the book in a circle so the reading does not depend on who could make Tuesday.

## Decide whether you need a clock

Async clubs should not schedule. Every calendar slot you add is a person who cannot come and will feel behind. If discussion lives in chat, the schedule is “when you read”. If you want faces, schedule less often than you think — monthly, optional, never the only spoiler room.

## If you do need a time

Poll for availability, pick one slot, send one link. Do not run three polls. Do not move the slot for the person who never fills in the grid.

- **When2meet / LettuceMeet**
  A grid of hours. Best for a group that already exists and needs one evening. Ugly, fast, no account required on the simplest tools.
- **Calendly or a host's calendar**
  Best when one person hosts and others pick a slot. Wrong for a peer club where nobody is the shop.

  Fine if the club is already a server. Time-zone display is the whole value. Still not a book club.

  No scheduler. Use chat. If you add a call, announce it in the circle and keep spoilers in the transcript for whoever could not come.

**What is the best book club scheduling app?**

When2meet or LettuceMeet for a peer group finding one hour; Calendly if a single host offers slots; Discord events if you already live there. House of a Reader has no calendar because the club is built to talk as you read.

**How do you schedule a book club across time zones?**

Prefer async chat. If you must call, pick a time that is merely bad for everyone, rotate who it is terrible for, and never put exclusive content in the call. Record or recap in the circle.

**Should we meet every week?**

Almost no online club should. Weekly calls empty the roster. Weekly page targets do not. Meet live for beginnings, endings, or when someone needs a face — not as the heartbeat.
